Academic Department Drupalites: Please Read

Hi, Drupalites,

As part of our overall technological advancements and continuous improvement initiatives, we have been promising a new approach to presenting content on academic program web pages since last fall. That effort complements our transition to D9 and is now ready for implementation.

This provost-approved initiative has been shared with academic deans and department chairs through various presentations at leadership meetings by Curriculum Services, University Communications and Marketing, and Information Technology.

Why is this effort necessary?

The end results will be a win-win situation for those with web update responsibilities and our prospective students who rely on this information to make their program selections as they embark upon their academic journey at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. It also helps us improve search results and meet legal requirements from the Department of Education.

How do I get started?

We'd like to invite you and any member of your department with responsibility for academic program web pages to one of our two upcoming Webmaster Academic Program Page-Catalog API Integration Kick-Off meetings in Teams:

  •

Not sure if your website is home to an academic program page?

Your site will be affected if your website includes pages with any of this program information:

  • Courses
  • Requirements
  • Content specific to academic programs
  • Majors, minors or certificates
  • Career outcomes
  • OR if your site links directly to the catalog and you'd like to keep prospective students on your website

While the crux of the implementation is quite simple, the plug-and-play nature of the initiative becomes more complex as we consider the intricacies of ensuring any necessary departmental sitewide adjustments that must accompany the work. This is an excellent opportunity to review your site content and consider other updates.

Next Steps

Our goal for these kickoff sessions is to share the demo pages, the to-do list for implementation and to hear from you as we map out our next steps.
