Heather Mikulski

Political Science, for people who care to matter!

Heather Mikulski completed her undergraduate degree at KSU with a major in International Relations and a minor in Political Science in the spring of 2008. She is currently working on research that will help us better understand the public health implications of important medical innovations, and volunteering with organizations that improve public health in lesser developed countries.

Having a personal interest in Germany, Heather enrolled in the graduate program at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt in the fall of 2008 after completing her undergraduate work at Ken State University.
She graduated with her MA in Public Policy, specializing in International Relations, Public and Non-Profit Management, and Health Policy in 2010.
While in Germany, Heather taught English at Berlitz language school. She also served as a consultant on a special project for GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenheit), where she analyzed future and ongoing international development projects supported by three merging German international development corporations working in the areas of health, economics, education, agriculture, government and more.
Heather moved back to Ohio in 2011 and took a client manager position with Medical Mutual/Mutual Health Services, working with self-funded employer groups on their health plans.
She is now a part-time doctoral candidate in the College of Public Health at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.  She focuses on health policy and management and is now working through a fellowship at Roche Diabetes Care in Indianapolis to write her dissertation, which focuses on new digital health applications for diabetes care and implications for health policy.
Heather volunteers regularly at the emergency department at Summa, Akron City Hospital and participates on the Summit County Refugee Health Task Force. She continues to be involved with work at the intersection of international development and public health, having served with health clinics in Haiti and as a member of the COCINA Haiti Health Committee.

Many congratulations to Heather!
