Graduate Programs Scholarships

The Erik Heidemann Endowed Scholarship memorializes Prof. Erik Heidemann, who served as a professor for the Department of Political Science and had great success in the classroom. His research focused on elections, parties, and political behavior in the United States. The award is designed to carry on Erik’s legacy of excellent scholarship by offering support for graduate student research.

Designated to support attendance and presentation of research at an academic conference in the current academic year, the Heidemann Scholarship will be awarded to two students per year. Students wishing to be considered should submit a 1-2 page essay describing their research and conference presentation plans to the Graduate Studies Committee in the Department of Political Science. The essay should specifically address the ways in which the award will support academic objectives. Preference will be given to applicants whose work aligns with the research focus of Erik Heidemann.

To be considered for this award, please submit your application to Dr. Michael Ensley by March 30, 2024.  Two $750 scholarships will be awarded by the Graduate Student Committee of the Political Science Department.
