Per-Credit-Hour Fee above Tuition Cap at the Kent Campus
Students with 19 or more credit hours and at least one Kent Campus credit hour are subject to an additional per-credit-hour fee for every credit of 19 or above
Undergraduate students, both in-state and out-of-state students, will be charged the in-state undergraduate per credit hour rate for credited hours above the full-time tuition range (cap), which is 12-18 credit hours. Graduate students, both in-state and out-of-state students, will be charged the in-state graduate per credit hour rate for credited hours above the full-time tuition range (cap), which is 11-18 credit hours for graduate students.
The additional per-credit-hour fee does not apply to students that only have Regional Campus credit hours. However, if a Regional Campus student has at least one Kent Campus credit hour and exceeds the tuition cap, the student will be assessed for the additional credit hours. Please review these examples:
- A undergraduate student has 14 credit hours at the Ashtabula Campus and 5 credit hours at the Geauga Campus. The student is not subject to the additional per-credit-hour rate for the 19th credit hour because none of the credit hours are Kent Campus credit hours.
- An undergraduate student has 6 credit hours at the Kent Campus and 13 credit hours at the Trumbull Campus. The student will be assessed additionally for the 19th credit hour because he/she has at least one Kent Campus credit hour.
The additional per-credit-hour fee is based on the total number of credit hours the student is registered or receives a grade of W for. Therefore, it will adjust through the 80 percent tuition credit period. The per-credit-hour fee will not adjust after the 80 percent tuition credit period because students are assigned a letter grade of W for dropped classes after the 80 percent period. Please review these examples:
- A undergraduate student has 6 credit hours at the Kent Campus and 13 credit hours at the Trumbull Campus. The student will be assessed additionally for the 19th credit hour because he/she has at least one Kent Campus credit hour. The student drops his/her Kent Campus class during the 80 percent tuition credit period. The student only has credit hours for the Trumbull Class so the additional per credit hour fee above 18 credit hours will be removed
- A undergraduate student has 8 credit hours at the Kent Campus and 11 credit hours at the Trumbull Campus. The student will be assessed additionally for the 19th credit hour because he/she has at least one Kent Campus credit hour. The student drops his/her Kent Campus class after the 80 percent tuition credit period. The drop resulted in a grade of W, as a result the additional per credit hour fee above 18 credit hours will not be removed.
