Award-Winning Instructors

Dr. Mietek Jaroniec

Dr. Mietek Jaroniec was named a recipient of the Arts & Sciences Distinguished Teacher Award for the 2009-2010 academic year. Recipients are nominated by their students, and ultimately chosen by the Student Advisory Council.

Dr. Jaroniec has also received three Doctors of Honoris Causa, and has been named among the top 100 scientists worldwide in the area of materials science.

Dr. Ruth Leslie

In 2009, Dr. Ruth Leslie, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, was presented with the Outstanding Teaching Award. The award, sponsored by the University Teaching Council, included a crystal apple and an honorarium. The OTA is presented annually to three ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø term faculty members who consistently exhibit extraordinary skills in classroom teaching. The award honors full-time, non-tenure track and part-time faculty.

Dr. Alexander Seed

Dr. Alexander Seed was presented with the Distinguished Teaching Award in Fall 2012. The Distinguished Teaching Award (DTA) is the University's most prestigious honor for full-time faculty, and is presented annually to three faculty members who consistently exhibit extraordinary skills in classroom teaching. The DTA is sponsored by the Kent Alumni Association.
