Viticulture, Enology and Brewing Certificates
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Ashtabula offers three professional certificates, two designed to provide practical knowledge and skills in grape growing and winemaking -- a and - and an additional . The Certificate programs are designed to provide industry recognized training for students interested in pursuing a new career or advancing their existing career in viticulture, enology and/or brewing. The programs are also ideal for home winemakers, grape growers or brewers that want to improve their skills or help determine if they want to grow their hobby into a small business.
While each of the Certificates may be completed as a stand-alone certificate program, courses included in these certificate may also be used to complete the corresponding Associate of Applied Science in Viticulture, Associate of Applied Science in Enology or Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management degrees.
Certificate in Viticulture
Courses included in the Certificate in Viticulture include Introduction to Viticulture and Vineyard Establishment, Botanical Viticulture, Winter Viticulture, Spring Viticulture, Summer/Fall Viticulture, Integrated Pest Management, Regional Vineyard Management and Soils for Viticulture.
Certificate in Enology
Courses included in the Certificate in Enology include Introduction to Enology, Winery Sanitation, Winery Equipment Operation, Wine Microorganisms, Intermediate Enology – Harvest and Crush, Intermediate Enology Post Harvest, Wine and Must Analysis, Fall Wine Production, and Cellar Operations.
CERTIFICATE IN BREWING TECHNOLOGY
The Brewing Technology undergraduate certificate provides students with the practical experience and the technology skills of brewing. The certificate emphasizes the science of brewing and includes hands-on field experience and laboratory work at local breweries.
