Judge Carla Moore Named ϳԹ President’s Ambassador

ϳԹ President Beverly Warren has named Judge Carla Moore the 2017-18 President’s Ambassador. “As the daughter of a lifelong educator, the value of education is imprinted in my DNA,” Judge Moore says. “I was thrilled to learn of my appointment as the President’s Ambassador for ϳԹ, and I’m very much looking forward to collaborating with Dr. Warren and becoming immersed into the educational culture at ϳԹ.”

Sponsored by ϳԹ’s Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the President’s Ambassador will help promote understanding and mutual respect among diverse constituencies of students, staff, faculty and administrators at ϳԹ; help address diversity challenges; implement diversity initiatives; engage students; and assist with other responsibilities that advance university-wide goals.

Judge Moore, a native of Akron, has devoted herself to a life of public service, both professionally and personally. She has served on the board of many of the region’s most respected organizations, including the Summa Women’s Resource Center, Akron Children’s Hospital, Akron Area Association of Churches, Leadership Akron, Akron Community Foundation, Lawrence School, Old Trail School, Walsh Jesuit School, the Ohio Judicial College, the Akron Bar Association and the Law and Leadership Institute. 

She was recently honored with the Akron Bar Association’s Judicial Pioneer Award and the Cleveland Catholic Diocese’ prestigious Sir Thomas More Award. The Akron Community Foundation’s coveted Bert A. Polsky Humanitarian Award will be bestowed upon her on Oct. 17.
