Hard work, clear vision and creative enterprise pays off for a ϳԹ dean who won a national educator award two years in a row.
Professor and Dean of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) Mark Mistur was listed as one of the Top 25 Most Admired Educators in Architecture, Interiors, and Landscape Architecture from DesignIntelligence.
DesignIntelligence is devoted to the business success of architecture and design organizations and recognizes educators all over the United States each year.
The company engages with architecture firms and leaders to determine this award.
“It’s an award that results from surveys of deans, department heads, senior-level design professionals and students across the country,” says Dean Mistur.
He says he was humbled to receive the award because it means that his peers and leaders in the profession have recognized his contributions to the discipline and to design education.
ϳԹ’s CAED is the only architectural program in Northeast Ohio, and it is significant to have a faculty member named on the top 25 list.
“The CAED is on the move, from being recognized regionally for the strength of its programs, to gaining the national recognition it deserves,” says Dean Mistur. “We have innovative programs, people and initiatives here that the world should know about.”
According to a DesignIntelligence article from his first-year listing, Dean Mistur is highly regarded for continuing to build a bridge between the profession of architecture and the academy and “has a clear vision for the architecture program and preparing students who are confident and well prepared as leaders.”
