  • The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Board of Trustees appointed Sandra Volpe as a National Trustee, to serve a three-year term effective September 15, 2021. She was reappointed to a second three-year term effective September 1, 2024.

    Trustee Volpe is the incoming Chair of the Board of the American Heart Association, Eastern Region. She is an accomplished senior executive and a Qualified Financial Expert. 

    She is active in the industry and community, also serving on the Board of Directors and a member of the Financing, Nominating and Corporate Governance, and Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility committees for Republic Services, Inc., an industry leader in U.S. recycling and non-hazardous solid waste. She is passionate about health, education, leadership development, diversity, equity and inclusion, and entrepreneurship.

    Until retiring in June 2022, Trustee Volpe served as senior vice president, strategic planning, communications, and business development solutions for FedEx Ground. Trustee Volpe joined FedEx Ground in 2000 with more than 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis. In 2007, she was promoted from managing director to vice president of strategic finance. Her extensive knowledge of the financial world made her the ideal choice to become the vice president of strategic planning in 2012 before assuming her most recent role in 2013.

    Trustee Volpe has received multiple awards throughout her career, including the prestigious FedEx Ground Five Star Award on three separate occasions and the FedEx Ground Leadership Award twice. She is vice chairman of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship’s National Advisory Board and received the college’s 2018 Spirit of Women in Business Award.

    Trustee Volpe graduated from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 1989 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
